Summer C.A.R.E. Camp Assistant

Job Description

Spend your summer on field trips and make a difference in a child's life! This position would assist in our C.A.R.E. Camps (Cultural Appreciation, Respect, and Education), a science and math focused day camp that offers unique cultural experiences, recreational opportunities, nutritional education, and much more.
  • Implements educational programs; assists with the implementation of diversity awareness.
  • Serves as an advisor to students; provides guidance to students on Center procedures; implements daily instructional curriculum; supervises student activities.
  • Documents daily attendance for individual students.
  • Complete and submit Incident/Injury report forms with appropriate documentation, and any other requested forms in timely manner.
  • Supervises students while riding Center transportation.
  • Complies with all state and local regulations regarding Before and After School Programs.
  • Participates in Center training and attends all regularly scheduled meetings.

Job Requirements

  • First Aid and CPR certification will be required, training available.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultures and diversity-related programs.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Ability to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for participants.
  • Verbal and written communication abilities.

Summer C.A.R.E. Camp position for June 12-August 18. Approximately 35 hours/week. Availability for Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm, including Saturday June 17.


PART-TIME NATIVE YOUTH CLUB TEACHER

Job Description

Make a difference with children in our After-School Programs as the Native Youth Club teacher. We are seeking an individual who has the cultural capability, knowledge, and experience to teach elementary students basic cultural skills outlined in the South Dakota Office of Indian Education Essential Understandings and Standards. Job duties include program operation, assistant assignments, maintaining complete and accurate records and databases, working with other office activities/events, as well as administrative support services.

Job Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree or combination of equivalent experience required.
  • Must be either a certified teacher and/or working on a teaching degree and have supervisory experience.
  • Direct experience with youth, computer skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with local organizations and agencies required.
  • Language skills preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification will be required, training available.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultures and diversity-related programs.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population.

This position is part-time. Class is Fridays 3pm-5pm; additional hours each week are somewhat flexible. Position works directly in youth programming (indoors and outdoors), some lifting and moving of various program related items. Background check is required. Salary dependent upon experience.

PART-TIME ON-CALL INTERPRETER/TRANSLATOR

Job Description

Part-time, on-call assignments. Most assignments are Monday-Friday daytime, but occasional night and weekend assignments are possible. Types of assignments include legal, medical, school, community, and with our driver's education program. We will schedule around your work or school schedule. Must be at least 18 years old.
